NEW YEAR, NEW RESOLUTIONS

Right, so it's January 2016! You know what that means, New Years Resolutions! Let's be honest with each other, I am not really that great at being consistent with this whole blogger thing, and a lot of the time I struggle to think of things that I think people would actually want to read about...I mean I can only subject people to so many ramblings about British history...

So I am taking a different approach this year. I have have the brilliant (or not so brilliant idea, depending on the day) to sign Jacob and myself up to run a half marathon at the end of March...crazy I know. I don't think that Jacob was all that excited to get this as one of his Christmas presents...but that is another story.

Anyone who knows us knows that we are not really runners and 13.1 miles sounds rather ridiculous. But hey, my geeky motivation is that we are signed up to run the Palace Half Marathon at Hampton Court Palace...got to find my motivation to run from somewhere, right?? Plus, who WOULDN'T want one of these awesome Henry VIII medals, that's pretty much a reason to run it right there! (At least that's one of my main reasons...)


So the reason for telling you all of this, is to hold myself accountable. I figure if I tell people that I'm doing it, I actually HAVE to do it, right? Otherwise that will just look silly. So the training has already started. I was really regretting this idea when I woke up for my 4.5 mile run this morning and saw that it was your standard rainy, dull British January morning, but hey, we are all signed up for this half marathon and we now have to get running.

All this training doesn't really mean much unless we are also improving our eating habits too. So I will be keeping track of my attempts at healthy eating and easy dinner ideas. Glad you are along for the ride...I can't wait to see how this little experiment of ours "works out"! (See what I did there...)
