OH HEY, PHI PHI

June 10, 2015
We had to be on the pier by 8am for our dives today with Bubba Diving. We have 3 dives arranged today and we are all so excited. It was interesting to note that everyone else on the boat is either Russian or Chinese…just an observation.

Our first dive site was a new dive site that they have just opened up. It was ok, visibility decreased as our dive went one. Matt and Ali spotted a Sea Snake…totally glad that I missed that. We did spot quite a large moray eel adding out in his rock.

When we got back on the boat, we noticed that one of the Chinese girls was in TEARS. Our dive master mentioned that he thought they were on the Discover Scuba course, something that allows you to try scuba diving before you decide to commit to certification. The two guys that were with her didn’t look to happy either. She soon stopped crying, but just sat there without saying a word, looking absolutely traumatised. It made us all wonder what had happened down there.

Our second dive was much better then the first. We were at a dive site called Koh Bida Nok, the visibility was great, around 15 meters and it was just a good spot. We saw tons of fish, including lion fish, parrot fish, puffer fish, a huge school of yellow tailed barracudas, a line of 5 cuttlefish, and some more of our favorite cleaner wrasse, who thankfully left us alone this time!

After our dive we were served a delicious lunch on board the ship as we headed to our final destination, Anemone Reef. This dive spot is so named because it is covered in, well, lots and lots of anemone. This means that there are also lots and lots of nemo fish hiding out in there little anemone homes. We were all quite excited for this dive spot, until we got in the water.

It was ridiculous how none of the groups when were on our boat had ANY regard for those around them. Our entire dive was weaving in and out of, or dodging people who have absolutely no manners or regard for those around them. It was absolutely ridiculous. I actually had someone nearly kick me in the face. I grabbed his fin and pulled him out of the way. I even had one of the other instructors push me away so his student could get in front of me to look at a fish as it swam away. Matt said that one of the Chinese students showed such little regard for swimming across Matt’s path that matt actually ended up kicking him in the head…I bet he took no notice.

We decided to surface fairly early o note dive because we were all so annoyed with those around us. We didn’t let it spoil our day and just focused on the fun dive we had done previously.

As we headed back to the pier, our dive master shared with us some of the pictures he had take from our dives throughout the day, it was good fun to look at pictures of some of the fish we had seen, as well as having some pictures of the four of us diving together.

After our boat docked, we headed back to the hotel where we ate dinner at the Italian restaurant again, opting for a variety of pastas. Thai food still doesn’t sound at all appealing to any of us…

After our dinner was done, we decided to head up to the hotel bar for some mocktail happy hour. But before heading to the bar, we decided that showers would probably be a good idea. Now, we haven't been able to do any laundry since we were in Chiang Mai, and that was AGES ago! So poor Matt was out of clean clothes. But don’t worry, he is very resourceful and totally rocked the bathrobe and slippers provided by the hotel, he called it his Hugh Hefner look in his non-smoking jacket. Mat totally owned his non-smoking jacket and slippers, and I think he enjoyed his first ever mocktail daiquiri, but you’ll have to ask him yourself.

We enjoyed our last evening of jakation, because tomorrow we are off to kayak through islands off the coast of Phuket, and we are even camping out on one tomorrow night!! S owe better enjoy our beds and air-conditioning tonight, because we are definitely going to miss them tomorrow!
