OUT IN LONDON

November 9, 2012

Last night I went and met Jacob up in London when he got off work. We were up there about two weeks ago and attempted to go to one of Jacob’s favorite restaurants, but it had a two hour wait! So we thought we would be clever and go on a Thursday night instead of on a Friday.

I put on my cutest outfit and some cute new flats that I got (because apparently most women here don’t wear heels, just flats). So per my mom’s wise advice, I tried my best to blend in. But as I was hurrying through the underground to catch my connecting train my shoes began to feel a little uncomfortable. “Oh well,” I thought, “new shoes need to be broken in, it won’t be that bad…”. I hurried off at my stop and started walking the couple blocks to Jacob’s office. I found Jacob & was introduced to a few of his work friends. We stood and chatted for a bit before heading over to Oxford Street (one of the busiest streets in London) and the Soho area for dinner.

We hopped on the tube and made it to the Oxford Circus Line. Oxford Street is pretty much one REALLY busy road full of stores. There are tons of stores: Topshop, Banana Republic, Michael Kors, Anthropologie, Reiss, American Apparel, Urban Outfitters…SO many stores. We walked around for a bit, and I put on my best “My new shoes aren’t giving me blisters” face and kept going. We finally made it to the restaurant (which was only a couple blocks away, but felt to me like FOREVER away). And although we though we were clever, there was still an hour wait. We went into a couple different restaurants, all with similar waiting times…it’s Thursday! Why is it so busy!!?

We eventually found a really yummy little pizzeria in Soho, and at that point as long as it was somewhere to sit and there wasn’t seafood, I was game. It was a really lovely evening, with live music and all.

We hurry back to the underground so that we don’t miss our train home. After making our connections we barely make it to our train. We have about 45 minutes to relax.

We finally make it home and get ready for bed. After a few hours, a yummy dinner, a fun evening out, and 8 blisters, I couldn’t be happier to be in my cozy bed!
