A QUIET SUNDAY

June 13, 2010

Today is Sunday in Annecy. Since it’s stake Conference and all the members have gone up to Geneva we aren’t able to go to church. So we all slept in then meet in the old town by the old prison so that we can go to the old market. Once we all get to the meeting spot we head through the market. We start in the food section surrounded by warm, delicious breads and strong cheeses. Then we get to the brightly colored and fragrant fruits. The strawberries are some of the reddest that I have ever seen! And the cherries are all perfectly ripe. There are tons of different fruits and vegetables, even some that I have never seen or heard of before, such as cœur de boeuf.

Then we progressed to the clothing and knick-knacks. I found a great deal on a watch that probably wont last long for only 5 €. (Catherine, my French mom, made sure to remind me that there is no guarantee with my new purchase.) After I had my watch fitted and set to the correct time I went over and bought some of the delicious cherries. Now, I haven't really ever been a cherry fan, but here, I'm ADDICTED. They are so good here in Annecy. I bought 3 € worth of cherries and could have eaten more! It was the perfect afternoon. Just sitting on the dock, knowing what time it was, eating tasty cherries!
