FIRST TUESDAY IN ANNECY

June 1, 2010

Today we went to classes and met our professors. We have a different professor almost everyday, but the lady I have today seems nice enough. Since I had afternoon classes today, Tessa and I went on an adventure around Annecy before classes. We ventured into the old town so that we could enjoy the sights. When you walk from the school to the old town it's so cool because you walk through this archway from this modern section of town filled with cars and suddenly you are in a small town with reddish cobble stone steps and tall, narrow buildings. As Tessa and I admire the beauty of this picturesque little town, something catches our eyes at almost the exact same second...A PAIN AU CHOCOLAT THE SIZE OF OUR HEADS! We couldn't resist.

SO yummy. After we got out breakfast we wandered around for a bit more then headed back to meet up with everyone else since they were getting out of class. After meeting up, since everyone else hadn't eaten a pastry that was size ginormous, they were hungry. So we went to the store so everyone could grab a little something to eat. As time ran out, Tessa and I ran back to school for classes. After class we all decided that it was best to call it a day and we all headed "home" for the evening.

When I walked up to the building where I live, Catherine (my "mom" for while I'm here) was outside with her dogs Lily and Nelson. I walked up and said bonjour and received the customary bisous. As we stood there talking and waiting for the dogs to complete their business, Catherine's step-son came up to say hello. (This also is the kid that was so welcoming and offered me some weed on my first night...lovely haha.) He and his friend spoke to me in English and asked if I remembered them from the night before when they said hi through the window. I said yep, but thought to myself that if anyone wouldn't remember, wouldn't it have been them?? lol Anywho...

I headed inside and went to my room for the month and collapsed on the bed. I never thought I would be so tired! It was dinner time so I headed into the kitchen and sat at the table. Philipe was there and said that he heard his son had been bothering me. In an attempt to be polite I just said that his son had just said hi and suggested that I hangout with him and his friend. Philip turned to me and said "No. That is a bad idea." I laughed. At dinner they had me try some type of cheese. Now I know one of the reasons that everyone here smells! IT'S THE CHEESE! That stuff was yummy, but it reeked! Mix that with smoking, wine, not brushing teeth, not showering and no deodorant and you have a super stinky Frenchie!

  1. Elsa I love your writing!!

I've known, worked and have come across loads of Frenchies like that don't shower all the time, and don't use deodorants, but, I think some French do now, and I know the history, and the history of perfume, which I believe French perfumes are known to be the best in the world!! (I'm obsessed with Coco Chanel)
But, why don't some people use deodorants and bathe everyday???
Could you somehow see what you could come up with on the subject??
